Applications
This equipment is designed for pellet production using the basket extrusion-spheronization method. It is capable of preparing both blank pellets (starter seeds) and drug-loaded cores, making it an ideal solution for pellet manufacturing in the pharmaceutical, food, and chemical industries.
Operating Principle
Raw materials, such as powders and excipients, are uniformly mixed and combined with a wetting agent to form a wet mass (soft material). This mass is fed into the extrusion chamber, where it is instantaneously pressed by a rotating impeller (scraper) against a perforated screen, forming dense, cylindrical extrudates. These extrudates then enter the spheronization bowl. Driven by a high-speed friction plate, the combined forces of shear, centrifugal motion, and friction transform the cylindrical shapes into uniform spherical pellets.
Key Features
-
Broad Versatility: Beyond standard materials, the system effectively handles heat-sensitive substances and materials using volatile organic solvents as wetting agents.
-
Basket Structure Design: The scraper design ensures low extrusion resistance and short compression dwell time. It provides high extrusion force with a significantly higher throughput and efficiency compared to screw extruders.
-
Annular Screen Plate: The extrusion screen features an integrated annular (ring-shaped) design for high structural strength and minimal scraper resistance, facilitating smooth material flow.
-
Customizable Sizing: A wide selection of screens with various pore diameters and thicknesses is available, allowing for the production of micro-pellets ranging from 0.4mm to 3.0mm.
-
Minimal Material Residue: During the extrusion process, the chamber is designed to leave virtually no residual material, preventing waste and reducing production costs.
-
GMP Compliance: The system meets all GMP standards, featuring three-level password authorization. All process parameters are managed via PLC, with automatic online data storage and USB export capability.
